Can you help out over the festival weekend?
If you'd like to offer your services (even for an hour) or want to discuss what's involved please contact us. You'll be given full briefing and an invitation to the end of festival party.
Here's the jobs with which we need help over the festival weekend...
Festival site set-up and pack-away: Friday (10:00 - 15:00), Monday (10:00 - 12:00)
You'll be putting up bunting; setting up the signs for the site; and ensuring the festival office is in place and organised for the weekend - all under the supervision of committee members.
MC: Saturday and Sunday (12:00 - 12:45; 13:30 - 17:00)
You'll be introducing performers either on the courtyard stage, marquee stage or buskers' stage and will be provided with background notes on each dance side.
Stage set-up and packing away: Saturday and Sunday (10:00 - 12:00, 17:00 - 18:00)
Helping to set up the courtyard, marquee and buskers' stages and the sound equipment - supervised by committee members - and pack them away again.
End of evening packing away: Friday, Saturday and Sunday (23:30 - 00:00)
Helping to tidy up the marquee and Morgan Room and pack away the sound equipment after the ceilidh and concert, respectively - supervised by committee members.
Sound engineer: Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights (18:30 - 23:00); Saturday and Sunday (13:00 - 17:00)
Run the sound desk for the folk night (Friday night), the concerts (Saturday & Sunday night) and the courtyard and park stages (Saturday and Sunday afternoons). You'll be provided with notes on the dance sides' requirements (number of mics needed & instruments used).
Ceilidhs: Friday and Saturday night (19:00 - 23:00)
Taking tickets and entrance money at the door.
Programme selling / bucket collections: Saturday and Sunday (12:00 - 17:00)
Selling programmes and collecting donations from the public.
Festival office: Saturday and Sunday (10:30 - 17:00)
Selling programmes, tickets & T-shirts; answering general enquiries; checking in and out collection buckets & radios; coordinating other volunteers; and distributing visiting performers' passes. A festival office file with comprehensive guidance notes will be provided.
Stewards: Saturday and Sunday (various times throughout the weekend)
We need stewards to keep an eye on how things are running and co-ordinate events with the MCs, sound engineers and other volunteers. We have mobile radios so you can keep in touch and will provide comprehensive guidance notes.
