TREDEGAR HOUSE FOLK FESTIVAL SOCIETY NEWSLETTER - APR 2006

 Page updated 05/04/2006

TICKET PRICES

Ticket prices will remain the same as last year (Friday folk night £4; Friday ceilidh £5; Saturday concert £8; and Saturday ceilidh £7).  For the first time this year there will also be a concert on the Sunday evening (featuring Eddie Walker, supported by Catherine Handley and Huw Chidgey); tickets for this will be £5. In response to several requests we're trying out a weekend ticket this year; you can get access to all the above events - plus free camping thrown in - for £25.

Remember that Tredegar House Folk Festival Society members get a £1 discount on their tickets. You can join by contacting the treasurer (see below) or downloading a membership form the web site (click here

COFFEE MORNING

A fund-raising coffee morning will be held at the Mayor's House (Stow Park Circle) on Saturday, 22nd April from 10:30-12:30.

There'll be international folk dance displays, plus cake and bric-a-brac stalls.

Admission £3. Contact a member of the committee if you'd like to buy a ticket before hand.

FESTIVAL OPENING

The festival society's president - local MP Paul Flynn - has kindly agreed to formally open the festival again this year. Paul's a long-standing supporter of the festival and we welcome his continued involvement.

CONFIRMED DANCE PERFORMERS

As well as our 2 overseas teams appearing this year (from Belgium and Denmark) the international dimension of the festival is also bolstered by two other teams who've confirmed their appearance. Regular festival-goers will be sure to welcome the spectacular Ukrainian side Veselka from Coventry, while we also look forward to the colour and style brought by India Dance Wales, who return for a second visit.

CAMPING

For several years the cost of ensuring security for the camp site has exceeded the fees received. This has been a significant financial drain on our limited resources, so to make up some of the shortfall your committee has decided to raise the camping fee for the first time in many years - to £10 for the weekend. This covers the cost of a unit - camper van or tent - regardless of the number of people occupying it, so  although the facilities are fairly basic it's still good value.

If you're looking for better facilities you can book into the Caravan Club site at Tredegar House. The contact phone number is 01633 815600 - or you can find the details online at www.caravanclub.co.uk
