Aims and Objectives: Set up originally as a showcase for traditional dance styles being learned and performed in the South East Wales area, the festival celebrates this traditional craft - as well as traditional music and song - with an emphasis on learning and extending skills.

Format: The dance displays and music & song sessions are free and open to all; entry to the concerts and ceilidhs is by ticket (THFF Society members get a discount); a minimal entrance fee is charged for workshops.

Barry Butler: late co-founder, former Chairman and Hon. Vice President. At the 2007 festival, all the dance teams from Wales and the world performed their own interpretation of The Barry Butler Memorial Dance, devised to honour Barry, who died after a long illness.
