BBC Young Folk Award finalists and Newport heroes One String Loose will be performing at Tredegar House Festival on Saturday. Listen to what BBC Wales personality Frank Hennessy said of these stunning players - "One of the finest young bands I have ever come across... full of energy, inventiveness, fun and above all, talent." Born into the Irish culture, One String Loose have exploded on the music scene - and how!

Those Bridgend-based merry pranksters Mabon are playing an hour-long concert on the Sunday night, and right after that the band are doing a Celtic Ceilidh with all-woman Manx dance team Perree T's Grainne Joughin (wife of Mabon's Jaimie Smith) calling. Should be incredibly good...

Stunning duo Nancy Kerr and James Fagan have been booked for our 2008 Saturday evening concert in the Morgan Room, Tredegar House. James (one of the famous Fagan Family from Australia)  plays guitar-bazouki, and Nancy (daughter of well-known broadcaster, singer and musician Sandra Kerr) plays viola and fiddle.  Between them, they have voices to die for and breathtaking tune sets that will keep the audience on the edge of their seats.  An evening with Nancy and James makes the perfect way to end the day.

Mick Ryan and Pete Harris are Newport Folk Club's guests on the Friday night in the Morgan Room, Tredegar House. Mick is well known as a fine singer of traditional and original material. Froots described him as "definitely the most underrated singer in the country". Pete (guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, mandola, bass guitar, whistle) has worked with a number of successful bands including The New St. George and Bursledon Village Band and is also a fine solo performer.

Pipers Wyrd is made up of Ed Wilson, Hazel Hall and Chris Metherell, three friends who originally met through clog dancing and started playing the Northumbrian pipes together for fun. Their unusual sound comes from the unique style in which they play the pipes - like no other pipe band, Pipers Wyrd play in harmony which they write themselves. Although the main pipes the band play are Northumbrian, they prefer to play music not normally performed on pipes at all - an eclectic mix of international music, such as French, Spanish and Scandinavian. Pipers Wyrd also play different types of pipes which include Scottish Small pipes and French bagpipes.

Ian Day's Albino Frogs are well-known in South Wales, playing gigs everywhere - a fine bunch of musicians, both acoustic and electric. They'll be doing a Sunday night concert in the Morgan Room.

Tan Bach  (Little Fire) was formed in Autumn 2006, but has already performed at St. David's Hall in Cardiff, The Two Rivers Folk Festival in Chepstow and The Pontardawe International Festival last Summer, as well as the prestigious National Festival for Music for Youth in Birmingham. Its 10 members, drawn from the four corners of Gwent, perform an exciting mix of tunes from Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
